a gorgeous drive with the family...

plans to have a photo shoot for some of my new ranges coming out, the hardest part is always finding a location that is spectacular...

this old door above is a favourite of mine, I walk past it regularily and had to use it as a back drop

we drove past this old post office, perfect red door!!
the kids had lot's of fun jumping off the steps, but the laughter can't last forever...hahaha, it wouldn't be a family day without some tears. LOVE IT!!

after returning home, I indulged myself in these gorgeous macarons from the clever girls at 'the inspired occasion'

I didn't share, and I ate them in about 3 minutes flat, and that was me trying to savour them!

so my verdict, DELICIOUS!!

caramel was definately my fav.

I am sooo inlove with bizarre lampshades chandeliers and the like at the moment,

after having only batten fittings throughout our house, it was time for some bling

so above is some trim I attatched to a plain shade for our bedroom,

a little glamour....

and these ones I made using chicken wire then glued on some trims and attatched some butterflies and birds.

they look so cute!!

I decided to take part in a fabulous cushion swap organised by Vic over at Punky & Me

first swap I've ever done. cause I'm usually too disorganised to do such things.

ok so I get the email today that it was postal day for our cushions!!

ummm, well, can I just say I was at work today and missed the post.

and ummm, well I'd been thinking lot's about making the cushion, but just had not yet actually done it. (and there's that disorganisation!)

so after choking down my dinner, chucking the kids into bed, and totally ignoring the husband, I got to it and voila!!

and why is this photo sideways you ask. beats me!

I had screen printed the fabric a while back and had been meaning to make cushions with it.

the design although it looks like a feather, is actually seaweed that I collected on a cruise down the river in our kayak

as red is my fav. colour, I had to add it on the back. nice contrast to go with the classic design on the front.

I hope my receiver enjoys it

I have become a very absent blogger, oh well, me bad!!

whilst I love to peruse all y'alls blogs, I feel I have no energy left to write up witty posts myself.

summer time when the weather is fine.

well, there hasn't really been much of that lately.

I have been feeling a little anxious about some upcoming surgery

and have begun looking at life and what I see everyday in a new light.

to appreciate the small things, the beauty that is all around us that we simply walk past not noticing.

so my project the next few weeks,

(and I will really really try to do this as often as I can)

I know, I've been very absent from the Handmade Christmas Challenge, I was still thinking of you all, and making and buying handmade, but I've been so busy, I had hardly a moment to join the blogging fun. so here is my last entry!

so, I've had a year to prepare a santa sack for my niece.

in that year, another niece and nephew were added to the collection, making it 3 santa sacks to be done.

of course, me being the type that I am, I started them on wednesday.

anywho, here they are in all their finished glory, handmade santa sacks for 3 precious babies.

what to make for someone who has everthing?? I made this scarf for my Nan. she is away this christmas, so it had to be small to fit in her luggage.

I also made one for my mum aswell as a new handbag, which I will show you soon.

and I even fitted it in my car to bring home.

I have made these new hats after a few trials and not being happy with the visor shape, I have finally come up with a peak that doesnt stand out like a ducks bill!!

so lucky I was 'allowed' to use my sisters set of hat blocks for the photography.

she was given them by our grandma who was a milliner.

an amazing lady who inspires me in every way imaginable.

this design was supposed to be for me!
as a licensed fabric, it is not available for sale
but my son got his hands on this one.
I guess it is appropriate really.

my brothers wedding this weekend, of course I left my dress til yesterday to make.

heaps of time, incase it didnt work out, to make something else!!

I made up the pattern, which I have to say is my fav. for summer.

I also make this in a cotton floral to wear to the markets last weekend.

so comfortable and stylish if I do say so myself!!

oh and another thing, I bought the shoes, then made the necklace thingy to match the shoes, then had to find or make a dress to match those!

nothing like doing things all jumbled!!

next, if I get time, I will make a purse to go with it!

hello there, from the depths of my piles of sewing, cleaning and general life mess!!I have been absent from my blogging world for a while,

so thought it time to grab a coffee and drop on in to say HI.

so much going on in preparation for the very first

FAIRY FLOSS MARKETS in Doncaster on October 3rd

aswell as the custom orders, I've been flat chat amongst my piles of half finished treasures!

I managed this week to make my very first bias binding ever!

in my head it seemed so much harder than it turned out to be, I needed a special piece for a custom order top, that no plain colour would quite do!

must say, I am very pleased and ended up with an extra 6 meters of it.

and here some one off tunic dresses for the markets using up some leftover pieces of fabric, trying ever so desperately to clear some shelves in my sewing room.

I have banned myself from anymore fabric purchases until at least one shelf is empty.

really, one does not need to stockpile as I have been doing.

so this is my handbag, the MOST awesome LEGO bag that was a gift from my sister from LEGOLAND in Denmark!

so super cool, the zipperpull is even a lego block!!

ok, so it's a big bag, and today being a work day there was extra stuff in there,

asthma puffa, deodorant, eyedrops, pawpaw lip balm,

notepads, sunnies, wallet, phone, keys, a stack of my new business cards,

a few neurofen, my eco carry bag,

my voucher for spotlight (just incase I happen to go past in the next few days)

and yes, a tapemeasure, go figure...

oh, and a remnant of fabric from work.

have been a wee bit busy today finishing off this dress sample above that has been in the works for a number of months! waiting ever so patiently for the fabric to be released, then pouncing on the first shipment!

It seems to be the fabric of the moment, I have seen about 3 other labels using the same fabric range in very similar ways.

oh well, never mine, here is my version!

and another cutie dress with pretty pleating across the front

a super comfy dress that ties at the shoulders

both dresses are great for all weather

layering is such a great way to get more wear out of those favourite wardrobe pieces.

my creative space this week has moved in next to the heater!!

spending my time cutting out lot's of gorgeous hats for my summer range

so many colours they make me think of beautiful fruity sorbet

that my gorgeous sister brought me back from Denmark

along with some handcarved wooden buttons from Norway.

At My House....

It's been a big week at my house this week

everything seemed to focus around teeth!!

Tuesday I had my wisdom teeth out. yep, all 4 heavily impacted!

plus another broken tooth, long story, began some 25 odd years ago when the tooth first came through!

had a nice metal post put into my bone for a newy tooth to be attatched to.

quite devastating really. but my glass is half full, and I have lot's of eating left in my life to do.

so on with the show.

much healing to be done!

the same day my surgery occured, my middle 5 star, lost her top tooth.

3 days later, lost the other top tooth.

I LOVE this gapped look on the kids.

Everytime she walks past me, she gives me the most massive smile.

makes me giggle. (which hurts my cheeks)

7 missing teeth later,

as I have been curled up in my bed just about all week

puffy and sore from having my wisdom teeth taken out and some other messy work done, we'd really all rather not hear or think about!!

I have had lot's of time to think...

lot's of questions in my head to answer...

so after endless hours working on these, I have got a plan.

finally, I know where I am headed.

It is really time to move ahead, and ahead we shall go!

Happy Birthday to Daddy 5 star today!!

after school my 3 5 stars decorated a cake at their grandma's house

it looks fabulous of course.

after dinner we let them choose which part of the cake they wanted to eat.

littlest 5 star wanted the hat cause it had no farties (smarties) on it.

must say, I don't fancy eating farties myself!!!

oldest 5 star wanted the arm, cause it had the MOST smarties and marshmallows

malcom in the middle 5 star, well, she wanted the bit cut out in the middle.

yep, she asked for the arse.

in those words too. hmmmm

then youngest 5 star made a party hat for Dad.

these are the amazing christmas stockings my mum made for each of my little peeps.

each grandchild has one, and they are all different.

they are so beautiful.

I was asked last year if I would make one for my only other peep on my husbands side of the family.

of course, not really having been given the ability to say no too easily, I agreed.

well, of course since then, her parents are now expecting #2 aswell as

a baby from my husbands other sibling.

so it's now gone from 1 santa sack to 3!

so I have decided to make them each one, and since they will only be young,

it will be their christmas present!

they will be much more simple than these ones

but individual and something to treasure always. (I hope)

busy busy this week doing not really a whole lot.

It's school holidays in our neck of the woods,

which means not a lot gets done besides being the queen of cleaning and food preparation!

being so so cold at night I have taken to perching in front of the heater

so took the time to restock a few hair accessory tins

I picked up these 4 beauties for a song!
I am so excited.
that red treasure I am keeping as my good case. It is perfect!
the medium browny will be a fabulous market case,
and the other 2, although look amazing, are a little worse for wear inside.
so will be great props etc.
one made from leather, the other actually a woven cane suitcase with leather trim.
so, let's pack up and hit the road jack!

well folks, school holidays this week!!

it sure has been chaotic!

I came up with the skirt above aswell as a few others for new ranges,

in amongst more than 6 ladies custom order skirts,

which, have created the mess that you see below.

this mess WILL be cleaned up today!

with still more orders to be done, including 2 more of the skirt below, I simply have no room left to work, and have expanded to our dining table inside. much to the delight of all involved.

hello my beautiful new lockers....

I was given this set of lockers by a friend.

I spotted them in their backyard a while back,

not being backwards in coming forwards, I mentioned just incase they ever felt the need to dispose of them, I knew of a grateful new home!!

and well, got the phone call last week.

come and get the lockers, they are all yours

well you can imaging my excitement, and my husbands lack of!!

as this friend is a plumber, all the handles on each locker are old tap handles.

too cool for words.

one day I may bring her back to all her former glory with a sandblast and splash of paint.

but for now, I love the rust.

they will be great for storing the kids bike helmets and other bits and pieces in!

this week, I may actually be able to get this uploaded in time for the actual creative space game.

hmmm, does anyone else struggle to find the time to keep up with all the computer blogging, facebook, co-ops, the list goes on.

I have been so busy of late, I have hardly even been on the computer. I know, quite a shock, as I tend to be that person who will sit at the computer and google aimlessly blog surfing, but never finding the right thing to put on mine.

not at easy one in my house

but I looked on the wall, and there was my beautiful

Mothers Day card still in the devine love heart that I was given.

I had to add the fly swat into the picture, the all expected gift from the mothers day stall at school!! they come with lollies made into a fly shape,

generally, though, the lollies have mysteriously dissapeared by the time parents receive the gift!!

I wandered into my work room to be confronted with my drawers

exploding with yellow also.

you don't know how long I have waited for you

so the crazy lady fell in love with the scissors

but what amazing scissors they are!

I had to immediately find some fabric to cut and cut and cut and cut.

I knew it was these beauties being delivered today

when the delivery man pulled up, I couldn't contain my excitement, meeting him at the truck

then stupidly said 'what a big truck for such a little package'

I sure hope he didn't take that the wrong way hehehe!!!

actually it is a base.

a highly dangerous base built from rocks a neighbour was getting rid of, stumps of wood from our old beautiful tree that had to be cut down, old boat oars, and everything else that could be scavanged for the effort!

of course, its for the girls too,
with a singing and dancing streamer twirling girl!
the base seems to grow each day

with what seems to be more dangerous booby traps!!
sling shots, catapults, you name it it's there!
be afraid, be very afraid!

well, at least the constant improvements and renovations keep them happy and occupied over the holidays. gotta love that!!!

too busy to get to the opp shops

however have discovered across from where I work

there is an auction house!

so I have taken to popping over on a monday for a look,

put in my absentee bids

and sometimes oh happy days, I get the winning bid.

the gorgeous cabinet above cost the huge sum of $17

I paid a little more for this beautiful chaise, however,

have been after one for many years.

I then went straight to buy new foam for the new cover.

now to get to work on some comfy cushions to adorn it.

I had an old calico coloured lampshade

which needed a touch of interesting
and here is the result.

I am so happy with it!

well, babies in our house are officially finished!!

our baby, the cat turned 4 yesterday

he even got to have his own party with his own friends of his choosing.

such a big boy now! got a new scooter and hopper ball,

that he has not stopped hopping through the house on

let's just say, he really has gone hopping mad!!

Oodles of chicken noodles

with all the crafting and creating, my culinary adventures have been in the least rather dull!
so here is a long time favourite that I really must make more of an effort to make regularily.
PHO GA - Vietnamese chicken noodle soup
(serves 4)
1.5 litres chicken stock
1 white onion finely sliced
5cm knov fresh ginger, peeled and sliced
2 cinnamon sticks
3 star anise
6 cardamom pods lightly crushed
1 tbsp palm sugar
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp fish sauce
2 tbsp crisp fried shallots
4 spring onions finely sliced
2-4 chicken breast poached then sliced
400g fresh rice noodles
Heat chicken stock in saucepan with the onions, ginger, cinnamon, star anise, cardamom, suger and salt. partially cover and simmer for 20 min.
strain broth, then add fish sauce and fried shallots. bring to the boil turn off, add the spring onions, cover and set aside.
prepare the rice noodles til soft drain, divide among 4 bowls. arrange chicken over noodles, gently pour over heated soup.
serve with platter of bean shoots, sliced lemon/lime, chilli, mint, basil and coriander
for each person to add according to tastes.

so I have been some what obsessed with aprons lately, actually for a while now!!
the big problem was with deciding what to buy for my mother in law for christmas. in need of nothing, wants nothing! Suddenly it dawned on me. Annie is an apron wearer from way back. After seeing my sister in law in one of Annie's aprons that I wouldn't be caught dead in, that was it. a fancy shmancy apron, so you feel dressed up even with it on!!
I really want to keep it myself! which I figure is the sign of a good pressie. will she like it? who knows! I do, I think it's a great gift. So off to wrap it up now, an apron for Annie!

with my eyes forced closed, I was led outside by my little miss

worried to see what may have occured,

screaming with absolute delight,

look mum, look what happened to the tree.

It seems, its been a few days since we ventured into the backyard,

and what was previously bare, has turned into absolute beauty

to see the excitement on her face,

It really is the simple things!!
